GEN - I'm Trying, I swear

So, I know it's been longer and longer between posts, but that doesn't mean I'm forgetting about this blog. Things have been getting increasingly hectic around here, starting with my acquisition of a new job. I am now a Tech and Gadgets writer for Examiner.com. As such, I'm already writing at least one article a day, and since I get paid for that one, this blog takes a bit of a back seat. I swear to you, though, I will try to update still. I've run out of hobbies, though, because I lost my list of ones that I was going to do. Also, LedgengT is dead to me now, as far as this site goes, as all he does is make excuses about why he hasn't written.
So yeah, I'm sorry, I'll get to work on it.
Also, if you want to help out, get me paid. It's simple, just visit my Examiner page here, comment on the articles, subscribe, and come back as often as you can. The more money I make with this job, the less I have to try to find another job, and the more free time I'll have to write. As well as the higher quality my Examiner articles, and these articles, will be.
Thanks for your continued support and patience in this trying time for this site. I swear to you, we will make it out in one piece, just don't let your end drop.
This is Alamane saying, peace out.

GEN - RAGE RAGE RAGE

Well, as any of you readers out there may have noticed, there is still a lack of a new update from Ledgendt. After I yelled at him for a bit about him not contributing, he promised to write an article as soon as he had the time. That was a week ago today. And I know he had time to write an article, because he had time to go hang out with some of our friends on Thursday. I'm thinking that if he doesn't write an article by the end of the week (I'm going to be harassing him more about it tomorrow and Thursday), I'm probably kicking him off the staff of this blog, then continuing on my own. Ledgendt, if you read this eventually, realize, I am serious about this one.

Aaaanyway, onto less rage subjects, I may or may not be getting a moderately to well paying job writing about tech. So if I do, any of you readers should totally check that out, it'll be an online thing, and it would seem that (if I get that job) I get paid by the page-view. I find out in two weeks. Oh, and any of you Twitter-folk out there should follow me, @mentalstrike I tweet at least once a week, though most often at least once a day. And I'm also thinking on moving this thing over to Squarespace once I get some cash. And my lappytop.

GEN - Well...this is embarassing...

Okay, well, as it seems that Ledgendt has completely forgotten about this blog and his responsibilities, I'm probably going to have to reach into my past and pull out another one of my proposed backlogged hobbies until he remembers about his music duties and gets on that. Sorry about this, I promise, I'll kick him in the face or punch him in the throat next time I see him if he hasn't updated by then. Again, sorry for the inconvenience...please don't leave us.

GEN - Hobby Ideas and Rules

Hey there, this is where I post a reminder for all you first time visitors and whatnot that I'm currently accepting ideas for cool new hobbies to try out. Just send any ideas you may have over to atleastonceblog@gmail.com and I'll read it within a day or two. The rules are quite simple, and they basically just say one thing, use your brain.

1) It cannot, in any way, shape, or form, seriously (sort of is okay, just not seriously, and no, I'm not joking) endanger my life. If there is a 30% chance or above of me dying while doing it, I'm not doing it.
2) It must be affordable on a budget of approximately $0 a month. That's right. No matter what it is, I should be able to accomplish it for free.
3) Think about the hobby before you send it. Like right now, it's winter and we have about a foot of snow here, so don't send me water/swimming related stuff until at least April.
4) It should not be illegal. If what you are asking me to do is illegal in the state of Michigan (such as a married woman going to get a haircut without her husband's permission. No kidding, that's actually a law here. Not like it's enforced, but still) I won't do it, and if it's a generally illegal thing, like rob a bank, kill a man, or steal an identity, I won't hesitate to forward your email to the proper authorities, so be expecting that knock on your door, and have your hard drive in your microwave already.

I think that's about it, as far as rules go. If I think of a new one, I'll post it here, and then throw up an update saying "Rule added" or something. Thanks, see you all later.

ALO - Music Mayhem

Hey there, I know this is coming a bit later than promised. It's not because of anything you all did or anything Google did, I've just had a lot going on lately. Sorry about that. Anyway, as you may or may not be able to tell, we're starting a new hobby today. I don't know why I keep using words that start with the same letter, it just seems like something I should do.

Anyway, yes, friends, it is time to start my music phase. As I said in my last post on free running, I discovered an audio sequencing program under the title of Fruity Loops Studio, or FL Studio. Almost immediately after hearing about it, I had downloaded the trial version and was trying out various things. I only ever made one decent tune, and I've lost it, but Ledgendt took this hobby and ran with it. As such, if I can actually get him to write some stuff, the majority of this phase will be written by the man, the legend, Ledgendt.

GEN - VIDEO RECORDINGS?!!

So, heya peeps, I got some good news for y'all. Today, I purchased an HD camcorder. Not positive about the quality, but it seems legit. I can't wait to try it out, and give y'all some vi day oh (sound it out if you haven't gotten it yet) of these hobbies. That'll be coming a perty perty soon. That's about it. Seriously. I have nothing else for you. Look at the title. This is actually the end. I'm gonna go to sleep now. Good night.

Oh wait; Starting the Music Phase tomarry. (If you can't tell, I'm tired and talking weird. Though, seriously, this is how I talk to my friends. Not even joking. Honestly. Kay, thanks) Well, late tomorrow. I gotta be a chauffeur for the majority of tomorrow morning, afternoon, and early evening. Not that it matters. I like driving.

Okay, I'm done now for reals. Hope you all are having a good year so far. Hope this blog finds you happy and well. Or at least content. And we at At Least Once take no responsibility for any feelings of depression, mania, insanity, or severe WTF-syndrome that may result from reading the posts contained herein. Just thought you should know.

GEN - Logo Times

So, as you can probably tell, this blog is based off of one of Blogger's templates. Not exactly the most original of things. Anyway, point is, we need a logo, and one that can have a site built around it. Ledgendt and I already have logo ideas, but, if at all possible, we want some of yours. According to the hit counter, there's more than just Ledgendt and I visiting this blog, so hopefully we've made readers out of some of you. Anyway, if you have any logo ideas, send 'em over to atleastonceblog@gmail.com along with whatever name you would like us to credit you with should we choose yours.

Generic copyright stuff
If you send us a logo, you relinquish all copyright claims over said logo. We at At Least Once are entitled to use the logo in any way we see fit, with or without credit. At the bare minimum, a post containing the author's chosen name with be made, and another page containing credit information will be available, readily accessible from any page on the site.

ALO - Free Running Frenzy Finale

Hey there ALOlites (nope, not that one either. I may just stick with "readers". Remember to hit us up at atleastonceblog@gmail.com if you have any ideas...), Alamane here with the final entry in the Free Running Frenzy series. In this article, I will run down from the second winter of my free running stint, all the way to when the next habit stole me away from it, as well as a special surprise at the end.

So, when we left off, my friend (whom you now know as Ledgendt) and I were practicing the basic moves of back flips (Ledgendt's girlfriend was also trying, and she got further than any of us, more on that later), waiting until the snow padding of winter to attempt one. Well, my friends, where we pick up now is the winter of that year. We've all been practicing, and now it's time to put it to the test. We went to our friend's house out in the middle of freaking nowhere (seriously, it's the kind of place where an animal in a bush sounds
exactly like three men and an axe), went into his field of a backyard, stood in a circle (sort of like a cult meeting) and attempted back flips.

GEN - Ledgendt

Hello there ALOists, (Hmm, not sure if I like that one. I'll keep trying them out), this is Alamane, bringing you good news! I will not be the only one working on this here lovely blog. My friend and longtime companion in the hobby hopping has decided that he is on-board for this concept. He shall be known as Ledgendt unless he says otherwise. Or something.

Why should you be happy about this? Well, as he has been with me on almost every single hobby, he can offer an alternative point of view, as well as handing out more information. See? Good, right? Also, like me, he is a graphic artist, so we should have an epic layout before too long. I think that's it. So, yeah, any readers we may happen to already have, be nice to him, and welcome him into your hearts.

Ledgendt's message to my (I suppose it's "our" now) readers:

Well now, new happenings for me in the blog world....never been here before....wow, it's sparke....Heyyyyyy....where was I? Oh yeah! Ok, so I, Ledgendt, have been invited to blog-help Alamane with his blog, and seeing as I am one of his good friends that is around him a lot....I'll be able to do that!!! Three cheers!!!!

ALO - Free Running Frenzy Part II

Hey, what's up dear readers? Alamane is back, bringing you part two of my article series on free running. When we last left off, I was training for the winter to be able to pull off mad stunts and flips when the summer came. As is the norm for part twos, I'm going to start where I left off.

Once summer came to western Michigan (and let me tell you, that takes awhile), I was, sadly, in no better shape than I had been in winter. But, dear readers, don't for a moment think that that stopped me from attempting free running anyway. I may not have been in the best shape ever (sort of a halfway deflated circle), I wasn't in the worst, either. I could run fair distances, and should I manage the finesse necessary to pull of the moves, I'd be pro in no time. So, as I do with almost any of my hobbies, I recruited friends that were interested in it as well, then headed down to a local playground to test out some of the moves.

GEN - Excuse the Mess

GEN - General information, probably pertaining to the blog, looks, tech troubles, moves, or anything that is likely to affect the whole blog reading experience.

Hey there internets, this will be my last post for the day, even machines like me need sleep sometimes. But I do want to point out that, yes, the blog right now is pretty sparse right now, no pictures, no logo, no background, etc. The main reason for this is because, as stated in a previous article, my normal laptop is currently out of order, due to an electrical short on the motherboard. I should have the machine back from HP within a month at maximum, but until then, my graphical capabilities have shrunk massively. But trust me, I have some mock-ups for the design of this place that will likely blow peoples minds. I hope. They blew mine when I made them...

Also, do not expect too much from this location. This Blogger account will be maintained, but, as soon as I get a stable income, I will be migrating over to a domain name, most likely hosted through Squarespace, where I won't have to know 20,000 versions of HTML, CSS and HCTSMSL to make a decent site layout. Actually, the coding isn't really the problem...I like coding, it's just the whole "hobbyhabit.blogspot.com" that I have a problem with. First of all, if I had a choice, I would not be stuck with hobby habit, but someone had already taken atleastonce.blogspot.com, and atleastonceblog.blogpsot.com just seemed a bit redundant.

Anyway, to summarize, the sparseness is temporary, as is the URL. See you soon!

ALO - Free Running Frenzy Part I

Hello there readers! Hmm, I’m really going to have to think up a name for you people…ALOists? ALOlites? I don’t know. I’ll figure something out. If you have any suggestions, send ‘em to atleastonceblog@gmail.com and I may pick one of them. Dunno yet, but we’ll find out, won’t we? Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
Heya! This is Alamane, your crazed tour guide in this land of hobbies, bringing you the first installment in this awe-filled romp through the mystical lands of hobbies. This entry is the first real one, so, please, excuse me if I use words of a more…grand nature. In this entry, I will begin a journey through murky past events that led to the creation of the blog that you are reading this very moment.
Freerunning. Ten years ago, this word would have meant very little, if anything, to any random person on the street. Today it is known as an art that has gained an amazingly large following in a few short years. Now, not to be elitist or anything, but I really was one of those people who discovered freerunning before the media got a hold of it and made it popular. But that is beside the point.

ALO - Getting Started with At Least Once

Welcome back, and for our guests, welcome! In this post, I’m going to go a little more in-depth into what the At Least Once blog is going to be about; sort of a guide to the blog. This guide will probably be linked in every post following this that has something that first-time readers probably won’t understand. Or something of the like. I’m not exactly positive about it right now, but I do feel as if this is something that definitely needs to be written out, since even I don’t always understand my own train of thought.

ALO - The True Beginning

Hello there, welcome to my virtual doorstep. I’m glad you stopped by. What? Aren’t I going to invite you in? Quite possibly, yes, but not just yet. You see, first I’m going to give you a one-time (well, not really, if you think about it) chance to run away before any screaming gets involved. Lucky you, huh? Now, you may ask, why would I need this chance? I’ve seen the stuff out there in those wildernesses of the Internets. What is so shocking about you that it could possibly cause me to run away, screaming or otherwise? Well, that is a fairly simple question, though the answer may be a little convoluted. For those of you who don’t like to read long blocks of text, I’ll shorten it as much as possible; my main hobby is hobbies. Not even joking. I love hobbies, I collect them almost like people collect baseball cards, or comics, or stamps, etc.
